Salina Regional Health Center History

SRHC was formed in 1995 with the purpose of improving the health of the people it serves. It was founded on the now century-old Christian heritages of its predecessor hospitals Asbury-Salina Regional Medical Center and St. John’s Regional Health Center. The intent was to develop a regional health care system driven by the needs of the communities served. SRHC intended to achieve its mission through teamwork within the organization and collaboration with individuals, organizations, and communities. Years later, SRHC is markedly different in structure and operations but fundamentally similar in purpose.

Now Salina Regional Health Center is a 393-bed community-owned regional hospital and Level III Trauma Center. It serves as a major referral hub for north-central Kansas, employing more than 120 physicians across a wide range of specialties.

It is an integrated health system, and primary care physicians are an integral part of SRHC. The connection between a patient and his or her primary care physician is the relationship that most impacts health. Subspecialist physicians also are an integral part of SRHC, so we have the necessary elements for clinically integrating primary, subspecialty and hospital care. Affiliations with health care providers throughout the Sunflower Health Network have built a foundation for taking that integration to a regional level. Through its hospitals, physicians, clinical and support services, and affiliates, SRHC improves wellness, strives to provide exceptional care for the sick and injured, and meets health needs from prenatal care to end of life.

SRHC insists on excellence. Throughout SRHC there is a culture of continuous improvement to achieve ever higher standards of patient access, clinical and service quality, affordability, and organizational sustainability. Throughout this culture is the insistence that we do what’s best for the patient.

SRHC provides systems of health and systems of care. As the regional leader in north central Kansas providing a full continuum of integrated services, SRHC embraces the role of facilitating regional integration.
