Summary:
Established and growing family of companies is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the operations of the Accounting Department, which includes responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation and payroll functions.
Family owned, these companies are engaged in HVAC installation and service in both the commercial and residential markets, oil and propane delivery, and the operation of a number of self-storage facilities.
Duties Will Include:
•Leads and monitors all day-to-day accounting and financial activities
•Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation
•Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
•Oversees preparation of business activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
•Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
•Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return.
•Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
•Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
•Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
•Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
•Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Preferred Skills:
•Highly organized with ability to manage a fast-paced environment
•Excellent management and supervisory skills required
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
•Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software including QuickBooks required
•Comfortable with technology, importing and exporting data files
•Foundation or similar construction software as well as knowledge of WIP and construction cost accounting
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred
•Eight Years of related experience
•Construction company accounting experience
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Compensation: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
