The Compliance Manager is a trusted advisor to leaders, translating regulatory requirements and risk insights into practical, scalable actions that protect clients, the organization, and its programs.
What You Will Do:
Regulatory compliance and investigations
- Own the intake, assignment, tracking, escalation, and completion of regulatory requests, audits, investigations, corrective action plans, and documentation requests.
- Serve as the primary liaison for regulatory investigations and coordinate responses with government officials, legal counsel, operational leaders, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Ensure regulatory submissions and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and delivered within required timelines.
- Direct and oversee incident, grievance, HIPAA, and other compliance investigations; ensure timely resolution, appropriate documentation, and required reporting.
- Conduct and coordinate periodic internal audits to verify compliance with applicable program requirements, organizational policies, and regulatory standards.
Program modernization and risk management
- Lead implementation, adoption, governance, and ongoing improvement of compliance tools and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a formal compliance risk assessment and mitigation process, including risk registers, ownership, action plans, escalation paths, and follow-up monitoring.
- Design practical workflows, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms that improve audit readiness, accountability, visibility, and decision-making.
- Identify emerging compliance risks, analyze trends, and recommend mitigation options and decision points to executive leadership.
- Develop, update, and operationalize compliance policies, procedures, training, and monitoring activities in collaboration with business leaders.
Leadership and Partnership
- Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate compliance staff; set clear expectations, performance measures, and accountability for results.
- Define team roles and improve processes to eliminate unclear ownership, duplicative work, and reliance on manual or email-driven coordination.
- Provide monthly compliance reporting to executive leadership, including trends, investigations, incidents, risks, corrective actions, and progress against key initiatives.
- Advise leaders and staff on compliance concerns, misuse of services, suspected fraud, privacy matters, and other regulatory questions with sound judgment and a solutions-oriented approach.
- Support vendor-management activities and other enterprise initiatives that require compliance input or oversight.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and industry guidance relevant to home and community-based healthcare services.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education/experience required.
- Healthcare compliance certification, such as CHC, CHPC, CHRC, or comparable credential, preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive compliance, regulatory, audit, risk management, or operations experience required; leadership experience preferred.
- Experience implementing or optimizing systems, workflows, dashboards, or project-management processes.
- Ability to understand and discern between various levels of risk.
- Intermediate computer proficiency, including the use of internal office and organizational software (such as Microsoft Office), and the ability to quickly learn and gain proficiency with Accra specific systems.
- Strong creativity, critical thinking, and effective problem solving skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively while maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
