Compliance Analyst, Commercial Risk-Middle Market

Primary Responsibilities:

Coverage Review & Compliance Monitoring

• Review project and account insurance coverage against the requirements outlined in client agreements, using established compliance criteria and checklists.
• Validate that coverages listed on Certificates of Insurance meet required standards, limits, and specifications, and identify and document any deficiencies or non-compliance.
• Review and interpret insurance policies and property master lists against required standards, escalating complex or non-standard coverage questions to senior compliance colleagues or leadership.
• Compile requests for waivers of insurance requirements and route them, with supporting documentation, to the appropriate leader or account team for approval under established guidelines.

Renewal Tracking & Certificate Management

• Proactively manage insurance renewals by running monthly expiration reports approximately 30 days prior to renewal dates.
• Monitor outstanding renewal documents and conduct timely follow-ups: 10 days prior to the due date for pending certificates, 5 days after the due date, and every two days thereafter by email and/or phone until receipt.
• Generate and distribute renewal request letters to insurance agents and management companies through the client servicing system, email, or fax.
• Upload and maintain current Certificates of Insurance for compliant policies within the client’s document management system.

Partner Coordination & Escalation:

• Collaborate with insurance agents and management companies to obtain corrected documentation and resolve routine non-compliant coverage issues.
• Serve as a point of contact for standard coverage-compliance questions from clients and external partners, escalating complex or unresolved matters as needed.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Prepare and submit monthly reports summarizing monitoring activities, including outstanding certificates and properties that are not in compliance with insurance requirements.
• Maintain accurate, audit-ready records of compliance status, partner communications, and resolution actions.

Required Knowledge & Experience:

• Working knowledge of commercial and personal insurance coverage types, policy structures, and Certificate of Insurance requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret insurance policies, endorsements, and property master lists against established standards and checklists.
• Ability to identify and document coverage deficiencies accurately and to escalate complex or non-standard issues appropriately.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing coverage and documenting compliance findings.
• Ability to manage multiple renewal cycles and competing deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word) and the ability to learn agency management and certificate-tracking systems, such as Applied Epic or comparable platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with insurance agents, management companies, and clients.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in insurance certificate or coverage review, compliance support, account servicing, or a related insurance operations function preferred.
• Experience reviewing Certificates of Insurance or contractual insurance requirements preferred.
• Must have or obtain 4-40 license within the first 90 days of employment.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); experience with agency management or certificate-tracking systems preferred.

• Insurance Acumen: Reviews insurance policies, endorsements, and coverage terms against required standards to confirm certificates are in order.
