Client Accounting Services Lead

Beebout Williams & Olds CPAs • El Dorado Hills, California • Full Time

Posted on Thu, Jun 18, 2026

Benefits: This is not a bookkeeping job. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the fastest-growing division at a modern, technology-driven CPA firm and to build it into something bigger.
Who We AreBeebout, Williams & Olds CPAs is a growing, AI-forward firm in El Dorado Hills providing tax, audit, accounting, and advisory services to sophisticated business clients. We are not a firm that talks about technology someday, we are actively building with it now. Our practice runs on a modern stack of tools across our workflows, with new automation and AI capabilities being tested and deployed continuously.
We are deeply engaged with the most technologically advanced platforms and thought leaders in the accounting profession, and we are proactive in those communities so we can bring the best solutions back to our clients. Our goal is simple: let technology absorb the volume, so our people can focus entirely on delivering value, insight, and real advisory to the businesses we serve.
The OpportunityOur Client Accounting Services (CAS) division is our most rapidly growing service line, and the sophistication of the clients we serve is climbing fast including expanding fractional CFO relationships. We are scaling, and we need one person at the center of it.
As our Client Accounting Services Lead, the buck stops with you on recurring client accounting deliverables. You will directly manage two full-time accountants on our global team, coordinate CAS work currently distributed across our tax professionals and dedicated CAS staff, and personally serve a portfolio of our most sophisticated accounts. Just as importantly, you will be the driving force behind standardizing, productizing, and scoping our CAS offerings unifying approaches, workflow templates, and service delivery into one scalable, repeatable model built for growth.
You will work side-by-side with firm leadership on the technology roadmap: refining Karbon workflow templates, implementing AI-assisted close processes, and evaluating the next wave of tools we bring into production. If you are energized by building, by new clients and new challenges, and by working at the front edge of where this profession is going this seat was designed for you.
What You’ll Own
Service Line Leadership
•    Own end-to-end responsibility for the quality, timeliness, and accuracy of all recurring CAS client deliverables across the firm.
•    Directly manage, mentor, and review the work of two full-time global team accountants, and coordinate CAS work performed by other firm professionals.
•    Lead the standardization and productization of our CAS offerings unified workflow templates, defined scopes, consistent deliverables, and clear service tiers.
•    Build, refine, and maintain recurring workflow templates in Karbon, and drive adoption of AI-assisted month-end close protocols across the team.
•    Partner with firm leadership on technology evaluation and implementation of identifying, testing, and deploying AI tools and automations that improve how we deliver.
Client Service & Advisory
•    Serve as the primary accountant and relationship point for a portfolio of sophisticated business clients, owning their monthly close and financial reporting.
•    Deliver financial information that is ingestible, interpretable, and actionable and walk business owners through what it means and what to do about it.
•    Engage clients on business questions, systems, processes, and the technology they are implementing in their own operations.
•    Support fractional CFO engagements, including forecasting, cash flow planning, and forward-looking analysis that shows clients where their business is truly going.
Core Accounting Execution
•    Oversee and perform full-cycle accounting including AP/AR, reconciliations, journal entries, and period-end close, maintaining general ledgers, charts of accounts, and workpapers to firm standards so books are tie-out ready for the tax team.
•    Prepare client financial statements, including custom management reports and other variance analyses.
•    Oversee client payroll processing and related filings (941s, W-2s, 1099s) and multi-state sales and use tax compliance.
•    Innovate and streamline close processes using Karbon, QuickBooks, and other available firm applications
•    Lead new client onboarding through QBO, historical cleanup, chart of accounts restructuring, and opening balance validation.
Where This Role GoesThis role is on a Director of Client Accounting Services track. The division’s potential is immense, demand is arriving faster than we can absorb it, and we are positioned to capture it with the right leader in place. We believe in laying the path forward out clearly and openly: as the division grows, there is meaningful opportunity for your responsibility and compensation to grow with it.
Who You Are•    5–7+ years of progressive experience in client accounting, outsourced accounting, or public accounting, including full-cycle close ownership.
•    Licensed CPA strongly preferred. Our clients are sophisticated, and this role represents the firm at a high level. Candidates on a clear, near-term path to licensure, or holding directly related credentials (CMA, EA) with deep CAS experience, will be considered.
•    Demonstrated experience reviewing the work of others and managing or mentoring staff you know how to set standards and hold a team to them.
•    Genuinely tech-forward. You get energized by new platforms, AI tools, and automation you are the person who finds a better way and brings it to the team, not the one who waits to be trained on it.
•    Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online, including setup, cleanup, and ongoing maintenance of client files.
•    Hands-on experience with payroll processing and filings, and multi-state sales and use tax compliance.
•    Strong Excel skills for reconciliations, analysis, and client reporting.
•    Strong project management instincts. You run multiple client deadlines, a team, and improvement projects simultaneously through a disciplined workflow system not memory and heroics. You’ll be our Karbon champion: the standard-setter for how work is tracked, statuses, and managed across the division.
•    Relentless about workflow integrity. You know bad data in means bad data out. Stale statuses, unmaintained work items, and inaccurate workflow data are unacceptable to you, because real-time, accurate workflow status is what makes a practice manageable and scalable.
•    Outstanding communication skills; comfortable and confident speaking directly with business owners about their numbers and their business.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Bonus Points
•    Experience in a CAS practice within a CPA firm, or managing offshore/global accounting teams.
•    Familiarity with Karbon or comparable practice management platforms.
•    Hands-on experience with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, or similar) applied to accounting workflows.
•    Experience with bill-pay and expense platforms such as Bill.com, Ramp, or Expensify and comfort implementing tech stack solutions for clients. We bring these solutions to our clients, and the benefit is twofold: better systems for their business, and greater systematization, efficiency, and automation in how we deliver our services to them.
•    Exposure to fractional CFO work, forecasting, or advisory engagements.
•    QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification.
What We Offer•    $80,000$120,000 base salary, commensurate with experience and credentials we are hiring the right leader for this seat, not the cheapest one.
