ABOUT US
Rythm is the fastest-growing lab in America. We redefined at-home testing with the world’s easiest blood test and created a culture around monthly lab testing from home. We’ve processed millions of tests across all 50 states, and we do everything in-house, from sample testing and logistics to code, marketing, and design. That vertical integration gives us the speed, control, and creativity to shape the future of health and wellness.
THE ROLE
Rythm is hiring its first CFO.
You’ll report directly to our CEO and Board and own the Finance & Accounting function as we enter our next stage of growth. We’ve experienced significant growth across all areas of our business over the last year, and with that comes a need for stronger financial planning, clearer visibility, and more structure around how we make decisions.
In addition to leading a small finance team, various department heads will look to you for guidance on budgets, investments, and decision making strategy. Our Co-Founders and Board will look to you for a clear picture of where the business stands today, where it is heading, and what we need to do to get there.
This is a true player/coach role. Some weeks you’ll be deep in the model yourself. Other weeks you’ll be working with investors, advising leaders across the business, or thinking several years ahead about how Rythm should scale. We need someone who is equally comfortable operating at both levels and genuinely enjoys the range.
You’ll work closely with our leadership team across nearly every major decision we make, including where we invest, how we grow, how we plan, where we need more discipline, and where we should be taking bigger swings.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own Rythm’s overall financial strategy across FP&A, accounting, forecasting, budgeting, cash planning, and reporting.
- Lead and continue building out the Finance & Accounting team.
- Partner closely with the Co-Founders and Board on company strategy, growth plans, hiring, investments, and resource allocation.
- Build financial models that give us a clear view of where the business is heading, what different growth scenarios look like, and where we should be investing.
- Lead future capital raises from initial conversations through close, while building and maintaining strong relationships with investors between raises.
- Develop a capital and financing strategy that supports both where Rythm is today and where we want to go next.
- Run financial planning through a period of continued growth and investment, bringing discipline to budgets and headcount without creating unnecessary layers or slowing the business down.
- Give department leaders clear visibility into their budgets, spend, goals, and financial performance so they can make better decisions independently.
- Define the financial and operating metrics that matter most to Rythm and create reporting that gives the company a shared understanding of how we are performing.
- Continue improving how we measure the economics of the business across customer acquisition, retention, subscriptions, testing, lab operations, and other key areas.
- Partner with our lab and operations teams to understand and improve cost per test, inventory, logistics, and the supply chain behind every kit we ship.
- Oversee accounting as the business becomes more complex, including audits, tax, revenue recognition, controls, compliance, and the financial requirements that come with operating a clinical lab.
- Ensure Board, investor, auditor, and internal reporting is accurate, useful, and delivered on time.
- Evaluate new business models, partnerships, and other strategic opportunities, and build the corporate development capabilities needed to assess potential acquisitions as Rythm grows.
- Strengthen the operational basics across purchasing, invoice approvals, cost center management, and other financial processes that become increasingly important at scale.
- Evaluate and improve our finance technology stack across accounting, AP, expenses, payroll, payments, and reporting, using automation and AI wherever they can make the team faster and more effective.
- Build repeatable processes and documentation that allow the finance function to scale alongside the company.
- Be a strong voice in leadership discussions, willing to challenge assumptions, surface risks early, and push us toward better decisions when the numbers tell a different story.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- 10+ years of strategic and sophisticated finance experience with meaningful leadership responsibility.
- Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed, or start-up company.
- Strong background across FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, accounting, cash management, and strategic finance.
- Proven ability to build and scale a finance team and the systems and processes around it.
- Experience partnering directly with Founders.
- Experience with fundraising, Board reporting, investor relations, and capital planning is strongly preferred.
- Healthcare, consumer health, diagnostics, DTC, subscription, or technology-enabled healthcare experience is highly relevant.
- Experience with businesses that include physical products, inventory, laboratory operations, or supply chain is a plus.
