Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In a fast paced, goal oriented cash application department, duties include:
- Process and post customer payments (ACH, wire, lockbox, credit card, and checks) to the appropriate accounts in the ERP/financial system,
- Research and resolve un applied or misapplied cash, payment discrepancies, short payments, overpayments, and unidentified deposits,
- Reconcile daily cash receipts to bank activity and address variances promptly,
- Communicate with customers as needed to obtain remittance details or clarify payment issues,
- Collaborate with collections, billing, and sales teams to resolve account issues and maintain accurate customer account balances,
- Maintain detailed documentation for all cash application activities in accordance with internal controls and audit requirements,
- Monitor, track and report unapplied cash, trends, and recurring payment issues,
- Assist in AR cleanup activities, research aged credits and unapplied payments and disposition them by contacting the customer to apply to open items or refund where appropriate,
- Participate in month-end closing activities, including reconciliations, reporting, and generating customer statements,
- Support process improvements to increase automation, accuracy, and efficiency within cash application workflows, and
- Other duties as may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.
Education and/or Experience
- College Degree with Finance Major is preferred
Travel
Position located in Fort Payne, AL with occasional travel (less than 10%) to Chattanooga, TN.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advance level Excel skills, as well as proficiency in Word, and PowerPoint software.
