Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients across various industries.
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations, maintain general ledgers, and perform account analysis.
- Tackle historical bookkeeping clean-up projects and resolve complex discrepancies.
- Serve as a trusted point of contact, building strong relationships through proactive client communication.
- Process payroll and maintain accurate employee records.
- Prepare and file HST/GST returns and payroll remittances.
- Ensure client files remain compliant with current Canadian accounting and payroll regulations.
- Assist new clients with accounting system setup and chart of accounts creation.
- Provide guidance and training on bookkeeping best practices and day-to-day processes.
- Support clients in maximizing the efficiency of their accounting systems.
- Prepare year-end working papers and supporting schedules.
- Collaborate closely with partners and accounting staff to facilitate year-end engagements and tax preparation.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, ideally gained within a public accounting environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian accounting principles, payroll, and indirect tax requirements.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop is essential.
- Experience with CaseWare, CCH, Sage, or Xero would be considered a strong asset.
- Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple client priorities.
- Excellent communication and client service skills with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
