Billing Specialist-Self Pay

Hours: 8:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week

The Accounting Technician responsible for the billing and collections process for private-pay patients and other financial accounts will post payments and prepare deposits while ensuring confidentiality and accuracy through the application of bookkeeping and accounting principles. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Financial counseling to patients 
• Posting self-pay payments
• Completing and sending deposit sheets for payments 
• Reviewing credits on accounts 
• Submitting refund requests as needed 
• Updating estimated charges 

Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of billing experience. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

• General knowledge of bookkeeping terminology, methods, procedures and equipment
• Knowledge of accounting principles and related data processing equipment
• General knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payor regulations, processes and procedures
• Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment 
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
• Possess ability to establish and follow detailed work procedures
• Ability to post accounts and to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy
