Salary Range: $90,000 – $115,000 CAD (commensurate with experience)

This role offers strong development potential for a finance professional seeking broad exposure to enterprise accounting, financial reporting, operational finance, process improvement, and strategic business support within a dynamic industrial and distribution environment.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Assistant Controller plays a key role in supporting the enterprise-wide financial operations, reporting, and accounting functions of Weston Forest from our head office in Brampton, Ontario. This role acts as a key partner in ensuring the integrity of consolidated financial reporting, supporting enterprise-wide month-end processes, maintaining internal controls, and providing financial analysis to support strategic business decision-making across multiple business units and operating locations.
Operating in a highly hands-on capacity, you will oversee day-to-day accounting activities, support audit and compliance requirements, contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives, and provide leadership and guidance to our AP/AR and Costing teams.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Financial Reporting & Accounting
• Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist with enterprise-wide month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and variance analysis.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies as required.
• Support external audit activities and coordinate requests from auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Assist with cash flow monitoring and treasury-related activities.
Internal Controls & Compliance
• Maintain and support enterprise-wide internal control processes to ensure financial accuracy, compliance, and consistency across operating entities.
• Assist with policy development and implementation of accounting best practices.
• Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies.
• Identify risks and recommend process improvements to strengthen financial controls.
Systems, Process Improvement & Data Management
• Support ERP system maintenance, enhancements, standardization initiatives, and finance-related implementations across the organization.
• Assist in improving financial reporting processes and automation initiatives.
• Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and reconciliations to improve efficiency and visibility.
• Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data across systems and reports.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within Finance and Operations.
Team Leadership & Business Partnering
• Provide support, guidance, and mentorship to AP/AR and Costing team members.
• Work closely with Finance, Operations, Sales, HR, and Administrative teams to support enterprise business objectives.
• Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Support special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
WHAT YOU BRING
Education & Credentials
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program is strongly preferred.
Experience
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Background in manufacturing, distribution, industrial, or supply chain environments is preferred.
• Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools is a strong asset.
• Previous experience supporting operational finance activities is an asset.

• Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
