- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the accounting department, including responsibility for the monthly close process across multiple locations
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting packages
- Assist in the preparation and review of journal entries and key balance sheet account reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting policies/procedures
- Provide accounting guidance to internal teams (i.e. A/R, A/P, Procurement, Operations, IT, HR, Payroll, etc.) by understanding the underlying transactions and researching/interpreting the company accounting policies and procedures to ensure accordance with GAAP
- Identify, implement and monitor scalable process improvements
- Supervise, train, and mentor staff and senior accountants
- Analyze P&L fluctuations and prepare a detailed monthly variance analysis, including identification of the underlying business drivers
- Resolve challenging issues appropriately and communicate in a timely, clear and concise manner
- Assist with acquisition integration into accounting systems, financial reporting and other areas as determined by Senior Management
- Partner with the Corporate Controller and other relevant business partners to ensure all new business initiatives are appropriately accounted for and recorded correctly in the general ledger
- Liaise with external auditors and prepare various audit schedules
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings
- Manage and direct system implementations, upgrades, and improvement projects
- Participate in special projects and other ad hoc duties as assigned
- Bachelor 's degree in Accounting with a minimum of seven years of relevant and progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls experience
- CPA and public accounting experience highly desirable
- Supervisory experience managing a team, including remote workers
- Must be detail-oriented, analytical, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate in various software systems with advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with private equity held companies preferred; experience in a healthcare or healthcare services company a plus
