About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Controller to oversee our daily corporate accounting operations, manage the month-end close process, and ensure strict compliance with SEC reporting regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls. In this role, you will report directly to the Corporate Controller and lead a team of accounting professionals to deliver accurate, timely financial data that supports our executive decision-making and investor relations. The ideal candidate pairs deep technical US GAAP knowledge with public company experience to maintain the integrity of our financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Accounting & Month-End Close

• Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close and financial statement consolidation processes.
• Review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and project accruals
• Supervise core accounting functions, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, and General Ledger activities.
• Maintain and enforce the company’s internal control environment in compliance with SOX 404 requirements.
• Optimize financial systems and ERP infrastructure to automate workflows and accelerate the close cycle.

Audit Coordination & Financial Analysis

• Serve as the primary liaison to external and internal auditors to manage quarterly reviews and the annual financial audit.
• Provide comprehensive variance analyses (actuals vs. budget/forecast) for senior leadership.
• Research and document technical accounting positions on complex transactions, such as stock-based compensation, leases, and acquisitions.
• Collaborate with FP&A and Investor Relations to prepare financial data packages for Board of Directors meetings.

  Process Improvements, Systems Administration

• Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, and systems
• Provide system administration for SAP, Concur and PCard program.
• Ensure accounting policies and procedures are kept current

Leadership and Collaboration

• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team; set clear expectations, review work and build a culture of ownership, accuracy and continuous improvement
• Foster strong collaboration with internal and cross-functional teams

Qualifications and Skills

Education

·  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

·  Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry; experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or complex R&D environments is highly desirable
• At least 3 years of experience in a publicly traded company or a Big 4 public accounting firm.
• Proven track record managing SEC financial reporting workflows.
• Direct leadership experience managing and developing an accounting team.
• Comfortable working in a fast-changing environment with evolving processes, and able to design pragmatic, scalable solutions
• Prior Experience with SAP/Concur and owning system administration functions

Where You’ll Be

Otto Aerospace is currently a remote workplace.  This role will require to occasional travel to our facilities in Fort Worth, TX  and Jacksonville, FL.
