Position Summary
The Assistant Controller is a key member of the accounting leadership team, partnering directly with the Controller to oversee complex accounting, business, and control compliance matters. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures that ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP & IFRS. The Assistant Controller plays a hands-on role in managing tight deadlines across a broad range of accounting activities, including general ledger oversight, monthly and year-end close processes, audit preparation, and the review of internal and external financial statements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and review of internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
- Lead monthly account variance analysis and communicate findings to senior leadership
- Assist in preparing and updating accounting policy and procedure memos to document the Company's position on accounting issues and maintain J/SOX narratives
- Manage period-end consolidation processes, including the preparation and submission of financial reports to the international parent entity in compliance with corporate reporting requirements and deadlines
- Support internal and external audits by serving as a primary liaison for the Company's internal audit department
- Contribute to cross-functional special assignments as they arise
- Teach, coach and train junior accounting staff
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP & IFRS, demonstrating comprehensive accounting and technical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills with the ability to lead and develop a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines
- High level of attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy
- Strong organizational skills
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related equivalent field
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive related experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior accounting role
- Big 4 public accounting experience with manufacturing clients preferred
- Experience with Oracle or SAP ERP accounting systems strongly preferred
- CPA (active or inactive) strongly preferred
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age

- Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- This position primarily operates in a standard office setting and is largely sedentary in nature. Occasional physical tasks may include lifting files, accessing filing cabinets, and similar light-duty activities.
