Assistant Controller

Position Summary

Assists with the preparation of monthly and year to date financial reports and ensures their accuracy. Assists with annual audit, budget, payroll, and accounts payable. Serves as the backup to the Controller.

Responsibilities

• Assists with month end close process
• Utilizes financial accounting systems including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, payroll, and fixed assets
• Accounts payable system administrator
• Reviews payroll
• Reviews daily/monthly bank reconciliation
• Reviews policies and procedures to increase efficiency and consistency
• Recommends changes to process if appropriate
• Reconciles business insurance
• Assists with annual audit
• Assists with annual tax return
• Assists with annual budget
• Approves ACH payments to cover department absences
• Handles confidential information including compensation
• Interacts and assists related parties (UW) and UWHCD employees when necessary
• Completes external surveys as requested
• Other Accounting and Finance duties as requested

Experience and Education

• Minimum of 10 years recent experience in Accounting and Finance
• Experience and strong knowledge base in month end close and reporting, accounts payable, fixed assets, and payroll
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
