JOB TITLE: Accounts Payable Technician
ORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Accounting
SUPERVISOR: Chief Financial Officer
SALARY RANGE: $15.00 TO $21.00 an hour
FLSA: Non-Exempt
ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family.
JOB SUMMARY: The Accounts Payable Technician is an entry level accounting position reporting directly to the CFO. The position provides direct support for processing the day-to-day vendor invoices and payments. First Level of information is Senior Accounts Payable Technician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Processing various types of accounts payable transactions including payment from fulfilled purchase orders, enterprise invoices, and other accounts payable billings.
- Responsibility of completion of voucher packet.
- Responding to vendor inquiries.
- Reviewing vendor statements and addressing any issues.
- Analyze accounts payable reports.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry and proper codes.
- Check work for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to accounting principles.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Demonstrate experience with basic knowledge of accounting principles.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree preferred but not required.
- 2 years related experience
- Experience in an electronic accounts payable processing environment.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
- The ability to multi-task and willingness to learn new skills.
- Type approximately 50 keystrokes per minute.
- Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Team oriented person who can focus on the details.
- The ability to deal effectively with tight month end closing process.
- The ability to work effectively in a high growth environment and rapidly changing organization.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, concepts, techniques and terminology.
- Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record and store accounting information.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform other duties and projects as required by management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting for long periods of time, occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping, good finger dexterity and feeling, frequent repetitive motions.
- Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal office environment.
