The accounts payable associate is responsible for the payment of goods and services purchased by the organization. This role also serves as an auditor, ensuring that invoices are accurate and that proper accounting procedures are followed for the purchasing and payment of goods and services. The applicant should display a positive and proactive attitude, be able to prioritize and multitask, and have strong communicative skills.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Processes check requests, garnishments, and tax payments, ensuring all appropriate approvals have been received
Reviews invoice to insure sales tax compliance
Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, and others regarding purchases
Reviews all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
Prints and obtains signatures on all accounts payable checks
Distributes signed checks as required
Responds to all vendor inquiries
Maintains all accounts payable reports, spreadsheets and corporate accounts payable files
Assists corporate financial officers and branch personnel as necessary
Prepares cleared checks for storage
Assists in monthly closings
Prepares analysis of accounts, as required
Performs filing and coping
Required Qualifications:

A two-year degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
1-2 years of experience in an accounting environment with specific experience in accounts payable, 2-5 years preferred
Ability to multi-task and complete tasks within a deadline in a fast-paced environment
Ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and computerized accounting systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Applicant must pay careful attention to detail and demonstrate strong organizational skills
Applicant must be able to multitask, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude
Construction industry experience preferred
Experience working with New York State sales tax preferred
Compensation:
Competitive wage commensurate with experience.  Excellent benefit package including company paid health, dental and vision insurance with a company-funded retirement plan. 

Hourly Wage: $26/hr-$30/hr

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, overtime when applicable, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
