The Accounting Team Lead oversees daily operations of the accounting team, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with applicable standards and regulations. This role serves as a bridge between staff accountants and senior finance leadership, providing technical guidance, reviewing work outputs, leading process improvements, and helping maintain internal controls.
Performance Expectations/Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of accountants and/or accounting clerks in functions such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Ensure month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing tasks are completed accurately and timely.
- Review, approve, and/or correct work performed by staff (e.g. journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports) to ensure compliance with company policies
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and support scalability.
- Monitor and report on the accounting team’s workload; balance priorities, delegate tasks, and ensure coverage during absences.
- Assist with audits (internal and external), providing necessary documentation and responding to audit findings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments (HR, Operations, etc.) to ensure alignment and support with financial information and processes.
- Ensure strong internal controls are in place: segregation of duties, proper approvals, accurate maters, documentation, etc.
- Participate in accounting system implementations or upgrades and help train staff on any new tools or process changes.
Compensation & Benefits
- $85,000 - $100,000

Education/Training Requirements
- College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 3-6 years of accounting experience, including experience in supervisory or lead roles.
- Proficient in using a personal computer, calculator, agency automation systems, and various application/software programs (e.g. MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Epic).
Work Environment/Physical Activity
