Accounting Manager – Own the Numbers. Drive the Business.
Let’s be honest—most accounting roles are about closing books.
This one is about moving a business forward.
At MacQueen, accounting isn’t sitting in the background—it’s at the center of how we make decisions, scale operations, and support the teams keeping communities safe, clean, and operational.
We’re looking for an Accounting Manager who doesn’t just report the numbers—but understands what they mean, challenges them, and uses them to drive smarter decisions.
If you’re the kind of person who sees inefficiency and immediately wants to fix it—keep reading.
What You’ll Own
This is more than debits and credits—you’ll be leading the financial heartbeat of the business:
- Own and oversee day-to-day accounting operations (GL, fixed assets, tax, insurance)
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close—accurately and on time
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance across the board
- Turn financial data into real insights that leadership can act on
- Partner with operations, sales, HR, and leadership to support business growth
- Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies
- Identify gaps, streamline processes, and make things better than you found them
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting team
What Makes This Role Different
You won’t be stuck in a silo.
You’ll be:
- In the room when decisions are made
- Helping leaders understand what’s working—and what’s not
- Driving improvements across systems, reporting, and processes
- Building something stronger, not just maintaining it
What You Bring
- Strong experience in accounting operations and financial reporting
- Proven ability to manage month-end close and financial processes
- Experience maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance
- Confidence working with data and translating it into clear, actionable insights
- Leadership experience—someone who can develop people, not just manage tasks
- A mindset of continuous improvement (you don’t settle for “how it’s always been done”)
- Strong communication skills—you can talk numbers with finance and translate them for everyone else
The Kind of Person Who Thrives Here
You’ll do well in this role if you:
- Ask “why” behind the numbers—not just “what”
- Take ownership and follow things through—no loose ends
- Can balance accuracy, speed, and business impact
- Enjoy building structure, improving processes, and raising the bar
- Want to be part of a team—not just a department
Compensation & Benefits
In accordance with Minnesota law, the salary range for this position is $114,081.10 to $170,724.72. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall qualifications.
This role is also eligible for a performance-based bonus program and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and other company-sponsored benefits.
