Job purpose
The Accounting Controller is responsible for leading and managing the organization’s accounting operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Accounting Controller also provides leadership to the accounting team while fostering continuous improvement, collaboration, and financial integrity throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:
- Prepare and oversee consolidated financial statements across multiple entities and subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely reporting.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, including IFRS and/or GAAP, as well as internal financial policies and procedures.
- Provide technical accounting expertise in complex areas such as revenue recognition, lease accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidations.
- Manage and review intercompany reconciliations, transactions, and eliminations across multiple business units and regions.
- Support the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with Finance and operational leadership teams.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting functions to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments and regional teams to support operational and financial objectives.
- Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close activities to maintain financial integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls and financial processes to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and support audit readiness.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, banking partners, and regulatory compliance matters.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, including performance management, coaching, and succession planning.
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, standardization, and operational efficiencies across the finance and accounting function.
- Partner closely with FP&A, Tax, Legal, Operations, and banking institutions to support strategic initiatives and business growth.
- Provide strong leadership and stakeholder management by effectively communicating financial insights, influencing decision-making, and building collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Perform other assigned duties.
- Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
- Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities
- CPA designation required
- Extensive experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, QAD, SAP ERP, or similar platforms
- Advanced systems and data analysis skills, including Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Support business decisions with accurate financial data
- Demonstrated process improvement and continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines, particularly during month-end close
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, with the ability to create and manage documents, spreadsheets, email communications, and presentations effectively.

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
