Pay: $22.50 per hour
Job Summary:
The staff accountant will maintain accounting records for the Association. He/she will assist the CFO in the areas of: Accounts Payable, Cash receipts, payroll, entering financial transactions into the general ledger, month end reconciliations and reporting. This position is an hourly, non-exempt position.
Summary of Essential Functions:
- Accounts Payable – will code invoices and process vendor payments
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payment are charged to the appropriate accounts & grant
- Manages the purchase orders
- Assist in monthly grant expenditure reporting to funders
- Assist in budget creation annual as well as new grants
- Assist in creating and entering monthly journal into the Financial Ledger
- Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheet, income statements and profit and loss statements
- Assist in monthly cash reconciliation by organizing all the financial transactions
- Generates accounting and audit reports for cash receipts, accounts payable and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses
- Reconciles and reports differences or issues found in financial records
- Filing and Special Projects
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor or Associate degree in Accounting
- At least four (3) years of minimum experience working in Accounts Payable, invoice coding, and working with various financial general ledgers
- Industry knowledge - working with governmental agencies and grants preferred (not required)
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis
- Ability to use accounting software to record, store, and analyze financial data
- Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures
- Organized and able to multi-task and prioritize effectively
- Problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Enjoy working as a team member as well as independently
- Ability to type at least 35 words per minute
- Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
- Ability to lift 30 pounds, sit, kneel, squat, and bend
- Current Illinois driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
