Position Characteristics:
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer maintains records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, analyzing transactions and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To reflect in all aspects of job performance the mission of the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging, Inc. 'serving the elderly in the East Baton Rouge Parish, to enrich and enhance their quality of life through advocacy efforts, creative planning, and coordination and provisions of needed services, and to make it possible for them to live independent lives as long as possible."
- Maintains special logs or records and balances and reconciles internal accounts or records including specific reconciliations, including but not limited to the SAMS Club card, Fuelman and agency credit cards (VISA)
- Reconcilation of agency credit cards, health insurance and various general ledger accounts
- Prepares a variety of straightforward special and recurring accounting-related reports, summaries, statistical reports and reconciliations
- Prepares appropriate schedules and reports as requested by CFO, CEO and designated Executive Management
- Maintains historical financial records by filing documents appropriately
- Maintains the postage system and prepares postage for mailing and distribution for delivery, if necessary
- Deposits accounts receivables into the agency's bank accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports as required by grantor agencies

- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing relates results as needed.
- Assists with filing invoices in the accounting office
- Performs any other duties deemed necessary
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and orientation to the philosophy of EBRCOA as presented in Mission/Philosophy statement.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and budgeting practices.
- Knowledge of computerized accounting and Excel/Spreadsheet accounting.
- Knowledge of QuickBooks.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn rules and regulations of financial responsibilities set forth by federal/state funding agencies.
- Skill in maintaining and reconciling accounting and financial records.
- Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written.
- Basic mathematics and counting is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to act professionally and remain calm in high stress situations.
Other Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associates degree or a technical degree or two or more years related accounting experience. (preferred)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/ Business Administration or some higher education experience (preferred)
- 2 years experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Valid Driver's License required.
