The Accounting Assistant is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the accounting department and providing support for data entry, filing, and essential financial duties. You are expected to deliver high-quality support and maintain operational excellence by demonstrating the following qualities:

 Essential Functions & Responsibilities 

1. Performs accounts payable transactions into accounting software system
2. Prepare and post General Journal entries
3. Open and distribute mail to appropriate C.O.R.E. Office team members
4. Maintain filing systems while accurately filing various accounting reports, vendor invoices, etc. daily
5. Perform data entry for vendor transactions into accounting software system
6. Make bank deposits and run other errands as needed
7. Generate reports as requested by the accounting department
8. Maintain office equipment and orders office supplies as needed
9. Provide protection to confidential company information such as financials
10. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent
2. Minimum two (2) years’ experience in bookkeeping and/or accounting experience
3. PC literate, including Microsoft Office with an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
4. Ability to quickly learn software systems such as ABC, QuickBooks, and various other products.
5. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and swift data entries with organization
6. Independent, adaptable, and eager to take initiative on new tasks and projects
7. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
8. Must hold a valid NM driver’s license

Physical Requirements

1. Must be able to sit for extended periods
2. Must be able to lift and carry approximately 25 pounds
3. Must be able to perform the following tasks: walk, squat, crouch, stoop, stand, listen, read and write
