Accounting Assistant

This is a full time bargaining unit position with excellent benefits.  This position reports directly to the Finance Director.  Applicant should enjoy working in a fast paced environment. This position performs a variety of clerical accounting duties for specific areas according to established bookkeeping and accounting principles and procedures. This position uses a comprehensive computer based finance and accounting system  to perform a variety of complex and routine accounting  functions and financial duties for a specific assigned area of responsibility according to established accounting principles and procedures

This position will perform more complex, specialized accounting duties related to accounts receivable, utility billing process, accounts payable, account balancing and analysis, general ledger, internal controls, loan/grants programs, cash receipting/depositing and court services. Prepare manual breakdown of revenue, State and County pass-through revenue vouchers with supporting documentation and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must have the following experience and education: -High school diploma or G.E.D. -Two (2) years of previous experience in clerical accounting, preferably in municipal government, bookkeeping, finance, or a closely related field, and two years of accounting experience, preferably in municipal government. -OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work. -Bi-lingual required.
