Accounting & Payroll Specialist
Cascadia Global Security (CGS), a Deus X Defense company
Location: Kent, WA (National Support Office) Employment Type: Full-time, exempt Schedule: Monday through Friday, in-office Salary: $55,000 to $75,000 DOE Benefits: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision, plus complimentary life insurance
About the role
We need someone who looks at a process and cannot help asking why we do it that way.
You will own accounts payable and payroll, and you will be a key contributor on general and month-end accounting for a family of companies that is scaling fast. You get the latitude to fix what is broken instead of working around it, and a clear path to owning more of the process as you prove it out.
If your desire is to become a controller, FP&A analyst, or move into another leadership position, we will give you the room, support, and guidance to create that opportunity here.
About us
Cascadia Global Security is a veteran-owned security services company headquartered in Kent, Washington, protecting clients nationwide.
Deus X Defense, our parent company, is a security technology company specializing in drone-based security monitoring with plans to expand into robots and other cutting-edge monitoring equipment. It pairs autonomous aerial systems with human expertise to cover ground that traditional patrols cannot.
This position sits uniquely in shared services, supporting the entire family of companies. That is the best part of the job. You will see how a services business and a technology business each run their books, and you will build financial processes that work for both. Very few accountants at this stage of a career get that kind of range.
Accounts payable and payroll
These functions are yours to own.General and month-end accounting
You will be a key contributor here rather than the owner on day one. The close is where you will grow, and we want someone who intends to take on more of it.Process and improvement
This is what separates a good fit from a great one.Where it goes from hereWhat we are looking for
Required:Preferred:We think this role fits well for someone with a background in accounting, finance, operations, or analytics who is looking for a career-defining challenge.
The mindset that succeeds here
You are organized without being rigid. You ask questions early rather than guessing. You would rather spend two hours building something that saves ten than spend ten hours doing it by hand.
And when a coworker is buried before a payroll deadline, you pick up the phone, even if it is a Tuesday evening, because you know they would do the same for you.
Working here
We take the work seriously. We do not take ourselves too seriously.
Focused hours, real evenings. We would rather you work hard between 9 and 5 and then go live your life. Close weeks and payroll deadlines occasionally run long, and every so often a teammate needs a hand outside normal hours. That is the exception here, not the culture.
A relaxed office. Open doors, nobody hovering, nobody measuring your worth in hours logged. There is a lot of laughing. Deadlines still get hit.
Real ownership. You will not be handed a task list and left there. You will be asked what you think, and when you are right, we will change how we do it. When you are wrong, we will talk about why.
We are growing nationwide across multiple companies. If you prefer to do the same process day in and day out while following the same SOP written 3 years ago, this job is probably not for you. If you want to be challenged and drive change, this might be a great opportunity.
