We are seeking a detail-oriented and client-focused Accounting & Bookkeeping Specialist to join our growing CPA firm. This position is responsible for providing bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, and tax support services for a diverse client base. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and enjoys working directly with small business owners to help them maintain accurate financial records.
A CPA license is not required. Candidates with an Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or those interested in pursuing the EA designation are encouraged to apply.
Primary Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records for multiple business clients.

Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual bookkeeping services.

Record and reconcile bank, credit card, loan, and balance sheet accounts.

Prepare adjusting journal entries and month-end close procedures.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.

Process payroll and payroll tax filings.

Prepare sales tax returns and other state and local filings.

Assist with individual, business, payroll, and information return tax preparation.

Organize client accounting records and supporting documentation.

Communicate with clients regarding bookkeeping questions and financial information requests.

Assist with tax notices and correspondence from taxing authorities.

Identify opportunities to improve clients' accounting processes and internal controls.

Support CPAs and tax professionals with special projects as needed.
Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Two or more years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.

Ability to manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.

High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred
-
Experience working in a public accounting or CPA firm.

Enrolled Agent (EA) designation or willingness to obtain it.

Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.

Familiarity with payroll processing and payroll tax compliance.

Experience with accounting and tax software such as Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, Thomson Reuters, or similar platforms.
