Responsibilities
Position Overview
As a VP Tax Counsel at Citco, you will lead the company's global tax strategy and provide in-house advisory services across corporate income tax and transfer pricing matters. You'll advice on tax compliance processes, conduct strategic planning, analyze the impact of global tax legislation on the company's operations and implementation of tax advice through technology enabled processes into the group and supporting Citco’s global tax risk management framework. The role is expected to develop a working knowledge of the relevant tax laws in key Citco Jurisdictions Your role involves developing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including tax authorities. You'll be responsible for transfer pricing documentation, intercompany agreements, and supporting tax audits and dispute resolution. This position requires a seasoned professional who can navigate complex international tax landscapes while supporting Citco's business objectives and growth.
Main duties/Responsibilities
Tax Advisory and Compliance:
- Provide in-house tax advisory across global corporate income tax and transfer pricing matters.
- Perform complex tax law research assignments and draft detailed technical tax memorandums.
- Provide subject matter expertise on international tax issues and matters relating to Citco’s subsidiaries and products.
Review tax returns in key Citco location to ensure tax advice is incorporated and tax position are documented.
Strategic Planning and Analysis:
- Monitor and analyze the impact of new and proposed global and local tax legislation on the company's strategy, products, and organizational design.
- Define tax requirements in organizational change projects and lead tax-related organization change projects.
- Translate and tax advice into technology-enabled processes controls across the group.
Communicate the company's strategy, products, and organizational design to internal and external stakeholders.
Transfer Pricing and Intercompany Transactions:
- Perform functional and financial analysis of Citco’s subsidiaries.
- Manage the external Benchmark provider process.
- Create and maintain up-to-date transfer pricing documentation.
- Review intercompany agreements associated with international transactions, working with management, finance, and legal counsel to execute and implement such agreements.
Stakeholder Management:
- Develop relationships with key members of management, finance, HR, risk, and tax teams in relevant jurisdictions to support global tax risk management.
- Maintain contacts with tax authorities, tax collectors, and other relevant authorities.
- Maintain a network of external tax advisers in key Citco jurisdictions.
Audit Support and Dispute Resolution:
- Assist and support Finance with tax audits.
- Manage tax assessments, including drafting objections and submitting deferrals of payment. Respond to requests and questions from local country taxing authorities.
Other:
- Provide advice on AEOI regimes (FATCA/CRS)
- Assist in tax integrity processes
Continuous Learning and Development:
- Develop a working knowledge of tax laws and relevant taxes in Citco’s key jurisdictions.
- Stay up-to-date on all tax developments and changes in relevant legislation.
- Continuously enhance tax knowledge to support the evolving needs of the organization.
- Perform ad hoc duties to support members of the Group Tax Team.
Qualifications
Education, Qualifications and Experiences
Master’s degree in Tax, qualified accountant or related field
5 – 7 years of relevant experience
Big 4, professional services or private practice experience preferred
Experience with Transfer pricing and financial analysis
Proven experience in managing global tax compliance processes
Proven experience in conducting complex tax research and analysis
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex tax matters to non-tax stakeholders
Lead organizational change projects related to tax
Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Managing interactions with tax authorities
Experience with global tax legislation and its impact on business strategy
Experience with Tax technology and process improvement initiative
Strong technical background, with the ability to provide accurate analysis on complex tax specific matters and independently research routine technical, financial and organizational issues.
Ability to work to deadlines, deliver under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent computer-literacy skills.
Strong English communication skills, oral and written.
Team player with a problem-solving mindset and excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Willingness to travel.
