The Vice President of Accounting & Finance contributes to the overall success of Momofuku by managing the company’s financial performance including daily financial operations, reporting and systems, payroll and long-term financial planning. The role will also involve new business underwriting, new opportunity diligence, and agreement negotiation.
They must be comfortable and excited about creating and implementing systems, and eager to work in a highly collaborative environment across all departments to ensure the financial health of Momofuku.
Responsibilities

Manage the Accounting team to ensure daily, weekly and monthly tasks are completed on time and accurately.

Review period-end income statements and balance sheet account reconciliations.

Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting: Analyze cash position of the company and maintain weekly cash-flow projections, providing accurate cash forecasts

Oversee the distribution of internal and external financial reports, making recommendations, when necessary, to strengthen key stakeholders’ ability to make tactical decisions that will maximize income where possible and appropriate.

Analyze and present monthly financial reports in an accurate and timely manner to Department Heads, COO & CEO; clearly communicate problem areas, review performance, and set sales/expense goals.

Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the Department Heads, CEO and COO; monitor progress, as well as meeting with Department Heads to ensure proper management of each department’s spending versus budget.

Assess current accounting and operational procedures in order to streamline processes, as well as create and implement a company-wide policy and procedure manual to ensure consistency and efficiency in all systems and improve controls.

Effectively manage Momofuku’s annual financial and 401k audits; be the main point of contact with the outside CPA Firm to ensure deadlines and cost objectives are met.

Oversee all aspects of tax management, including but not limited to general tax filings, Sales Tax, Commercial Rent Tax, Personal Property Tax returns, all tax audits, projections remittance, and any development related to future needs

Oversight of all aspects of payroll including accurate payment to employees, deductions, and compliance; experience in New York, Nevada and California is critical.

Oversee all aspects of insurance, including providing financial input on annual liability package and executing standard insurance renewals.

Works closely with Operations, playing a proactive role in optimizing systems that have financial and operational impact.

Review departmental purchase and hiring requests and make recommendations.

Leads the maintenance of Company cap table; Carta experience preferred

Works closely with People and Operations to develop and maintain competitive compensation packages

Contribute to the success of the Accounting/Finance Team, including hiring, providing continuous training and leadership to develop and promote the team. In addition, holding the team accountable to all standards and practices, evaluating and/or following disciplinary procedures when necessary.
Skills & Requirements

BA Degree in Finance required (CPA preferred)

10+ years of accounting experience in the restaurant or other related hospitality field

Experience working with multiple states & locations

Experience creating systems, processes and adherence

Knowledge of GAAP and advanced tax principles

Experience with Restaurant 365 preferred

Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills

Strong desire to coach & mentor accounting team with an excellent track record of development

Strong desire to work collaboratively with the rest of the leadership team
