Job Summary:
GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and results-oriented Tax Manager to join our team in Raleigh, NC. As a professional self-starter, you will play a critical role in supporting the U.S. tax functions of a premier international waste services provider. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare quarterly tax provisions in accordance with IFRS principles and partner with the accounting team to support accurate financial reporting.
Assist in the preparation of corporate federal and state income tax returns, including the calculation of quarterly estimates and annual extensions.
Lead tax planning projects and manage tax forecast calculations to optimize the company’s tax position.
Prepare comprehensive workpapers to address IRS and state tax audit inquiries.
Provide technical tax assistance during M&A activities.
Execute internal control procedures, ensuring full compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) key controls.
Stay current on international, federal, state, and local tax laws.
Identify opportunities for process improvement within the tax department.
Requirements:
Certification: CPA designation is required.
Experience: A minimum of 4 years of tax experience within a public accounting firm or a publicly traded company.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and hands-on experience with professional tax software.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for cross-functional partners.
