Job Description
WHC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Total Rewards & Payroll Specialist to join our collaborative Human Resources team. Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards and Payroll, this role plays a key role in supporting payroll operations while contributing to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WHC’s Total Rewards strategy.
Benefits and Pension
Ensures the accurate configuration of the Benefits module in our HRIS System (Dayforce) and manages ongoing benefits-related system updates Administers ASO benefits contracts, including Extended Health Care (EHC), Dental, Life, Long Term Disability (LTD), Accidental Death and Disbursement (AD&D) and the Health Care Spending Account (HCA). Manages full-cycle Desjardins ASO benefit administration, including premium validation, payroll reconciliation, and across-systems; tracking; collaborating with partners to resolve discrepancies Works with Occupational Health and Wellness and our Long-Term Disability (LTD) to support employees on LTD. Develops benefits training materials and employee communications; servers as the primary point of contact for complex benefits inquiries. Collaborates with HR and Payroll on special projects such as market adjustments, and government payout initiatives etc. Supports HOOPP Administration, including resolving escalated employee inquiries.
Payroll
Contributes to the accurate and timely execution of the bi-weekly payroll process, including anniversary increases Oversee the direct debit process for HOOPP and benefit premiums, ensuring accurate setup, submission, and resolution of rejected transactions, with updates maintained in Dayforce. Supports the auditing, to ensure data integrity including approvals of timesheets, transfers, new hires, seniority calculations etc. Assists with the processing of special and off-cycle payments, including SUB plans payments, terminations, missed payments etc., as required Partners with the Payroll Lead to support year-end activities, including the HOOPP MDC Acts as backup for payroll processing to ensure continuity of operations
Compensation and Analytics
Supports the translation of WCH’s People Plan into practical compensation and benefit solutions, including related communications and system changes. Participates in hospital network information sessions and contributes to benefits and compensation surveys Analyzes and synthesizes HR data to develop and present insights and reports as assigned Audits and updates the HRIS system (Dayforce) to ensure compensation and benefit information is accurate.

Qualifications
Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as an HR or Payroll professional in a unionized workplace. Professional certification (PCP, CHRP or CEBS or CCP) is preferred. Strong analytical skills. Advanced computer skills (HRIS, Outlook, Microsoft Office – Work, Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, xlookups and PowerPoint). Compensation, benefits and payroll knowledge is required. Previous experience working in payroll and benefits in a hospital or healthcare environment would be an asset. Knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards Act, WSIB, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act. Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills. Proven organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work under pressure with minimal direction. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse employee groups. Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria. Professional behavior and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital.
