We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for technical accounting and SEC reporting professionals with hands-on expertise in complex ASC guidance, public-company reporting, technical memorandum preparation, and external financial disclosures.
This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on translating real technical accounting and SEC reporting work into structured evaluation materials. Selected professionals will develop realistic accounting scenarios, review model-generated analyses, assess technical conclusions, and provide detailed feedback that improves reasoning across complex US GAAP and public-company reporting matters.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting Scenario Development
- Design realistic scenarios based on complex accounting transactions and reporting requirements
- Develop tasks involving technical accounting memoranda, supporting schedules, accounting conclusions, and journal-entry considerations
- Create practical scenarios requiring interpretation and application of US GAAP
- Ensure assignments reflect the level of judgment used in public-company and advisory environments
ASC Standards Review
- Evaluate analyses involving ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 leases, ASC 718 stock compensation, and ASC 805 business combinations
- Assess whether accounting conclusions are technically accurate and appropriately supported
- Identify incorrect applications of guidance, unsupported assumptions, and missing considerations
- Review the treatment of complex contract terms, transaction structures, and reporting outcomes
SEC Reporting & Disclosure Evaluation
- Review model-generated content related to Forms 10-K and 10-Q
- Evaluate footnotes, disclosures, accounting-policy language, and external reporting materials
- Assess whether proposed disclosures are complete, consistent, and aligned with the underlying accounting conclusions
- Identify gaps affecting transparency, technical compliance, or financial-statement presentation
Technical Feedback & Research Collaboration
- Compare alternative accounting analyses and determine which response is more accurate and defensible
- Provide clear written feedback explaining technical strengths, weaknesses, and required corrections
- Apply consistent standards across accounting scenarios and model outputs
- Collaborate asynchronously with research and accounting specialists
- Support calibration and quality-review activities when required
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- Significant professional experience in technical accounting, SEC reporting, or public-company financial reporting
- Big Four, accounting advisory, or public-company technical accounting experience
- Deep hands-on knowledge of ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718, and ASC 805
- Experience preparing technical accounting memoranda, supporting schedules, footnotes, and SEC filings
- Strong understanding of complex accounting judgments and defensible documentation
- Excellent written communication and close attention to technical detail
- Ability to work independently within an asynchronous project environment
Educational Background
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline is highly relevant
- An active CPA licence or equivalent professional accounting qualification is strongly preferred
- Advanced training in technical accounting, SEC reporting, or financial-statement disclosure may be valuable
- Equivalent senior-level experience in public-company reporting or accounting advisory may also be considered
Nice to Have
- Experience preparing or reviewing Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and related SEC disclosures
- Background in accounting advisory, transaction accounting, or financial-reporting transformation
- Familiarity with revenue arrangements, lease portfolios, equity compensation plans, and acquisition accounting
- Experience implementing newly issued or complex accounting standards
- Knowledge of disclosure controls, reporting calendars, and public-company close processes
- Previous involvement in task writing, rubric development, structured evaluation, or AI training-data work
- Experience reviewing technical accounting work prepared by other professionals
