POSITION DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Technical Accountant is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of the company's financial reporting as it scales. Operating in a complex environment that includes capital-intensive infrastructure and data centre operations, this role applies accounting standards to real-world business scenarios. The objective is to establish and maintain robust accounting treatments across key areas such as revenue recognition, capitalisation of assets, leases, and financial reporting, ensuring the business always remains audit-ready and compliant.
This role acts as a key advisor to finance and leadership, translating technical accounting requirements into practical, scalable solutions that support growth. By developing clear accounting policies, strengthening controls, and partnering with commercial and operational teams, the Technical Accountant reduces financial risk and enables confident decision-making. Ultimately, the role ensures the organisation's financial foundations are strong, transparent, and capable of supporting continued expansion.
Essential Functions
- Own revenue recognition policies, particularly for SaaS and usage-based models
- Determine appropriate accounting treatment for capital expenditure (e.g. GPU infrastructure, data centres)
- Prepare and review technical accounting papers for complex transactions
- Support month-end and year-end close with technical accounting inputs and adjustments
- Lead audit readiness and act as a key contact for external auditors
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with financial reporting standards
- Partner with finance, commercial, and operations teams to provide accounting guidance on new initiatives
- Assess accounting implications of new products, commercial models, and contracts prior to launch to ensure compliant treatment from day one
- Support system and process improvements within finance (e.g. ERP, billing systems) to ensure accurate accounting and scalability
- Monitor changes to accounting standards and proactively implement updates to policies, ensuring ongoing compliance

Supervisory Responsibility
The employee will be responsible for leading and supervising direct reports, ensuring work is completed to the required standard, deadlines are met, and team members are supported in their development.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
The ordinary hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm, with the expectation that the employee may be required to work reasonable additional hours outside of these times as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CA/CPA qualification (or near completion) required
- 4–8 years' experience in technical accounting, ideally from a Big 4 or mid-tier firm, or a technical role within a complex organisation
