You as a 'Team Lead, Payroll' will be responsible for: Payroll Operations Oversee the processing of multiple payrolls to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable legislation, union agreements and company policies. Review and approve payroll transactions, adjustments, and reconciliations as required. Monitor payroll deadlines and coordinate workload distribution across the team. Identify and resolve complex payroll issues, escalating matters when necessary. Team Leadership & Support Provide guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to Payroll Administrators. Review work completed by Payroll Administrators and provide feedback to ensure quality and accuracy. Support training of new payroll team members. Foster a collaborative team environment. Support for Payroll Implementation Act as the primary support resource for Payroll Supervisors while they are engaged in payroll implementation activities. Assist with testing, validation, process documentation, and issue resolution related to system implementations and enhancements as required. Ensure payroll operations continue to run efficiently during implementation periods. Communicate process changes and support the team through transition activities. Compliance & Continuous Improvement Ensure adherence to payroll legislation, company policies, and internal controls. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices. Support audits and payroll-related reporting requirements. Is this role right for you? Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required; Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation considered an asset. Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience, preferably in a multi-jurisdiction or multi-payroll environment. Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred. Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, payroll systems, and payroll best practices. Experience supporting payroll system implementations or major system changes is an asset. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines. Strong knowledge of unionized payroll environments, with the ability to interpret and apply collective agreements accurately and consistently. Demonstrated experience resolving payroll matters related to collective agreement provisions, including pay rules, premiums, leaves, and entitlements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to analyze payroll data, perform reconciliations, create reports, and utilize functions such as XLOOKUP, PivotTables, and formulas to support payroll operations.
