The Tax Accountant supports the preparation of tax compliance, planning, and basic consulting services for a variety of clients. This role is focused on developing technical tax knowledge while assisting in the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns. The Tax Accountant works closely with senior team members to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of client work while building foundational expertise in public accounting tax services.

Position Reports to

The Staff Tax Accountant is a member of the Tax team, reporting to the Supervisor, Manager or Partner.

Job requirements

Education and Experience:

·         1 year professional experience, tax or professional internship preferred

·         CPA license, Enrolled Agent, or actively pursuing certification preferred

·         Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat

·         Ability to manage multiple assignments and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client service mindset

·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

·         Professional, personable, and committed to high-quality work and continuous learning

Factors to Success

·         Basic understanding of federal, state, and local tax principles and return preparation.

·         Familiarity with tax preparation software (UltraTax, CCH Engagement, Thomson Reuters products preferred).

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

·         Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

·         Effective written and verbal communication skills.

·         Willingness to learn and take direction from senior team members.

·         Strong organizational skills and commitment to accuracy and quality work.

Physical Requirements

·         Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

·         Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
