What You’ll Do
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, explaining program requirements, and assisting with forms.
- Conduct interviews with applicants to determine eligibility for various relief programs.
- Verify and evaluate applicant information for consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
- Maintain confidential program files and adhere to state and local record retention laws.
- Prepare, review, and process documents to meet program deadlines.
- Identify and report any suspected fraud or inconsistencies.
- Collaborate with Commissioner of the Revenue staff to ensure accuracy in tax records.
- Utilize computer systems to manage data entry, file maintenance, and eligibility determinations.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation related to program administration.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Understanding of federal, state, and local laws affecting relief programs.
- Proficiency in handling program-related forms, documents, and manuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
- Competence in data evaluation and applicant interviewing.
- Proficiency in using office machines, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to organize tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
- High level of accuracy and integrity in handling sensitive information
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, customer relations, or public service.
- Equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
Work Environment
Work is regularly performed in an office environment. This position requires frequent use of computers and standard office equipment and regular interaction with staff, other departments, and the public. Work may involve handling sensitive or confidential information and assisting individuals who may be experiencing difficult personal or financial circumstances.
