POSITION SUMMARY:
The Tax Market Leader is responsible for the overall leadership, growth, and performance of the tax practice in the Tampa market. This role blends high-level client service with a strong emphasis on business development, networking, community presence, and team leadership.
You will oversee a team of tax professionals while managing key client relationships and expanding the firm’s presence in the Tampa market. This role reports directly to a Partner and plays a critical role in shaping the strategic direction and growth of the tax practice.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Tax Market Leader, you responsibilities will be:
Market Leadership & Business Development
· Serve as the face of the tax practice in the Tampa market through networking, speaking engagements, and community involvement
· Cultivate and close new business opportunities and grow a strong pipeline of prospective clients
· Build and strengthen referral networks and strategic partnerships
· Promote the firm brand through civic organizations, industry involvement, and thought leadership
· Cross-sell firm services and identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships
Practice & Team Leadership
· Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Senior Managers, Managers, Seniors, and Staff
· Oversee staffing, scheduling, and utilization to optimize team performance
· Foster a high-performing, collaborative culture aligned with firm values
· Support recruiting, hiring, performance management, and career development of team members
· Provide coaching, feedback, and leadership to drive growth and engagement
Client Service & Technical Excellence
· Provide high quality, value add Tax Services to clients
· Maintain and grow relationships with key tax clients and serve as a trusted advisor
· Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services, including areas such as entity structuring, succession planning, M&A, and tax optimization
· Prepare and review complex tax returns for businesses and individuals to ensure accuracy and compliance
· Lead and support resolution of tax matters, including audits and examinations
· Deliver value-added insights to help clients reduce risk and maximize financial outcomes
Operational & Financial Management
· Partner with firm leadership on strategic direction, growth initiatives, and market expansion
· Manage engagement profitability, including billing, collections, WIP, and realization
· Monitor and drive performance against revenue and growth goals
· Ensure efficient processes and high-quality service delivery across engagements
· Participate in firm committees and key initiatives
· Promotes the Firm positively in the community and through professional organizations' involvement
· Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; MBA/MACC preferred
· CPA certification in good standing
· 10+ years of public accounting or relevant experience
· 3+ years of leadership/management experience
· Proven experience in business development, networking, and client acquisition
· Strong leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performing teams
· Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication
· Experience or interest in leveraging automation and AI-based tools
· Valid Driver’s license and transportation to client sites up to 1 hour from the home office location
· Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
· Strong technical tax expertise across multiple entity types
· Demonstrated ability to drive growth and lead a market or practice area
· Strategic mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
· Ability to balance client service, team leadership, and business development priorities
