The Opportunity

As a Tax Manager, you'll serve as a key advisor and leader within the tax practice.

You'll work directly with business owners, entrepreneurs, and organizational leadership teams while overseeing complex tax engagements, managing client relationships, developing staff, and contributing to growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Advisory & Planning

• Advise clients on the tax implications of business decisions and strategic initiatives
• Develop tax strategies designed to minimize tax liability and maximize client value
• Provide sophisticated tax consulting and planning services
• Research complex tax matters and communicate recommendations clearly
• Identify changing regulations and emerging tax issues impacting clients

Client Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary contact for complex client tax matters
• Build and strengthen long-term client relationships
• Communicate federal, state, and local tax concepts effectively
• Assist clients in achieving business and financial objectives
• Deliver exceptional year-round tax and advisory support

Leadership & Team Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop tax professionals across multiple levels
• Provide technical guidance and performance coaching
• Review work product and maintain quality standards
• Foster collaboration and accountability throughout the team
• Help attract, retain, and develop top talent

Practice Management

• Manage engagement workflows, team resources, and project timelines
• Monitor engagement profitability and billing
• Support operational efficiency initiatives
• Contribute to strategic planning and practice development efforts
• Ensure compliance with firm standards and professional requirements

Business Development

• Participate in networking, community involvement, and growth initiatives
• Identify opportunities to expand existing relationships
• Help clients discover additional value-added services
• Support proposals, presentations, and client pursuits
• Contribute to the continued expansion of the firm's client base

Qualifications

Required

• CPA license required
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Accounting, Tax, or related field
• 5–8 years of public accounting tax experience
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience
• Experience with federal tax compliance and tax planning
• Strong tax research and analytical capabilities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Strong project management and organizational abilities
