Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Tax Manager to be a leader in our tax department and deliver high-quality tax planning, compliance, and advisory services to a diverse client base. In this role, you will manage client relationships, oversee complex tax filings, and mentor a team of professionals while driving operational excellence and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, mentor, and support tax staff to ensure timely, accurate work.
- Provide ongoing training and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented team culture.
- Manage project timelines and allocate workload efficiently.
Tax Compliance & Planning
- Review and prepare complex federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Develop and execute tax strategies to reduce client liabilities while ensuring full regulatory compliance.
- Stay current on tax law changes and provide proactive guidance to clients and staff.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a trusted tax advisor, delivering customized guidance and solutions.
- Proactively identify client needs and promote relevant firm services.
- Build and sustain strong, long-term relationships with clients.
Process & Technology Optimization
- Improve tax department workflows for greater efficiency and accuracy.
- Evaluate and implement tax software to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure strict adherence to all relevant tax laws, ethical standards, and firm policies.
- Represent clients during tax audits and work directly with tax authorities as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and tax/accounting software (e.g., CCH Axcess).
- Ability to develop and implement effective procedures and make sound decisions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA license or Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax.
- Deep knowledge of federal and state tax codes and regulations.
- Strong client service orientation and problem-solving skills.
