Tax Manager, CPA/EA (Full-Time, Remote, USA)

Who we are:

Gelt is a tech-driven tax company providing premium tax solutions for closely-held businesses, HNWIs, and investors. Our goal is to optimize our clients’ taxes and ensure their compliance by utilizing our proprietary technology platform and team of expert in-house tax professionals.

You will:

• Team Leader: Serve as a team leader for 2-4 tax associates addressing and resolving inquiries, managing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly workflows, assisting with drafting client emails and fostering client relationships and providing guidance on complex client scenarios in order to assist with tax return preparation.
• Client Consultation: Meet with clients to discuss their tax situation, offer advice, and ensure client satisfaction. Meetings will be scheduled more regularly during tax season to review tax returns.
• Review and Quality Control: Examine intricate tax returns to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal tax positions before filing.
• Research and Analysis: Delve into complex tax topics to extract precise information, staying updated with the latest tax regulations, and providing authoritative advice on nuanced tax subjects.
• Continued Education: Stay updated with the ever-evolving tax landscape, including the latest rulings, legislation, and best practices.
• Documentation: Document research findings, create internal best practices, and assist in training materials for the broader team.

We are looking for someone who has:

• 7+ years of work experience with S-Corporations (1120S), partnerships (1065), and individuals (1040) - mostly in professional services, technology, real estate and financial services industries
• 2+ years of managing a small team of tax preparers
• A bachelor’s / master’s degree in Accounting / Taxation
• A CPA, EA or tax attorney - a must
• Sound knowledge on direct tax law
• Ability to breakdown complex processes to simplify and optimize them
• Enjoys fast paced startup environment
• Nice to have: experience with corporations (1120), estate planning and trusts, gifts
• Nice to have: PE and VC (funds) experience
