A top national public accounting firm is actively seeking a Tax Manager with deep Estate, Gift & Trust expertise to join its growing Private Client / Private Wealth practice. This is a high-impact opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys advising high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, and closely held entities, while also serving as a strategic leader to both clients and internal teams. While the role is tied to the San Jose office, the firm offers strong flexibility. Hybrid is preferred, but they are open to a fully remote arrangement anywhere in the United States for the right individual, with California remaining the ideal market. What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead Estate, Gift & Trust tax compliance and consulting engagements
• Advise high-net-worth families and private clients on complex tax planning matters
• Review fiduciary, estate, gift, and individual tax returns
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on wealth transfer and succession strategies
• Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring deadlines and profitability goals are met
• Mentor, develop, and review the work of tax seniors and staff
• Partner closely with firm leadership on client growth and relationship expansion
• Identify planning opportunities across trust, estate, gift, and private wealth structures
• Build strong internal and external referral relationships

Ideal Background

• CPA, EA, or JD required
• 5+ years in public accounting tax
• Strong experience in Estate, Gift, Trust, and Private Wealth taxation
• Prior experience reviewing complex fiduciary and individual returns
• Leadership or supervisory experience mentoring staff
• Strong client-facing communication and advisory mindset
• Experience building relationships with attorneys, financial advisors, and family offices is a plus

Compensation

$130,000 – $173,000 base salary

Compensation can flex upward depending on experience, credentials, market, and location.
