Tax Manager – Corporate Tax (ASC 740 / 1120)

In this leadership role, you'll manage client relationships, oversee corporate tax engagements, mentor and develop staff, and collaborate across multiple service lines to deliver comprehensive solutions. Responsibilities
Corporate Tax & Technical Leadership
- Manage and review complex federal corporate income tax returns (Form 1120) for a diverse client base.
- Lead ASC 740 income tax provision engagements, including current and deferred tax calculations, uncertain tax positions, and related disclosures.
- Advise clients on income tax accounting matters under U.S. GAAP and, when applicable, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Research and analyze complex federal income tax issues and communicate practical recommendations to clients.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise clients on potential impacts and planning opportunities.
- Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend strategic solutions aligned with clients' business objectives.
Client Advisory & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with corporate clients across multiple industries.
- Lead client meetings focused on compliance, tax planning, consulting, and income tax accounting matters.
- Collaborate with professionals across audit, consulting, advisory, and specialty tax practices to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional service offerings.
- Assist in business development efforts, proposal development, and securing new client engagements.
Engagement Management
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while ensuring quality, profitability, and timely delivery.
- Oversee engagement planning, staffing, budgeting, workflow, and billing.
- Review engagement profitability and monitor project performance.
- Ensure all client work complies with professional standards and firm quality expectations.
Leadership & Team Development
- Review work prepared by Senior Associates and Staff Accountants.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical development to engagement teams.
- Foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning across the team.
- Participate in firm initiatives focused on technical development, innovation, process improvement, and culture.
Qualifications
Required
- CPA, J.D., LL.M., or Master's degree in Taxation.
- Five or more years of progressive public accounting experience.
- Significant experience preparing and reviewing federal corporate income tax returns (Form 1120).
- Experience preparing or reviewing ASC 740 income tax provisions.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP income tax accounting principles.
- Excellent tax research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven leadership, mentoring, and project management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Preferred
- Experience serving middle-market or large corporate clients.
- Exposure to IFRS income tax accounting.
- Experience with corporate tax provision software and tax research platforms.
- Business development experience within a public accounting environment.
- Experience managing multiple client engagements and supervising professional staff.
