About the Role
Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager who will oversee critical accounting operations. This role is responsible for managing the month-end close, supporting audits, overseeing grant accounting and compliance, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, non-profit experience, and hands-on expertise with Dynamics GP (Great Plains).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations , including bank and investment accounts
- Produce and analyze financial statements and internal financial reports
- Lead grant accounting , ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting standards
- Support external audits and serve as a key contact for auditors
- Oversee and review accounts payable transactions and controls
- Assist with and support payroll processing , including coordination with HR and payroll vendors
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and reporting support
- Utilize and maintain accounting systems, including Dynamics GP (Great Plains)
Systems & Tools
- Required: Dynamics GP / Great Plains
- Preferred: Concur (expense management)
- Preferred: ADP Workforce Now (payroll and HR)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Non-profit accounting experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards
- Proven experience with:
- Month-end close
- Journal entries and accruals
- Bank and investment reconciliations
- Grant accounting and compliance
- Audit preparation and support
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
