Position Specific Description

The Director will report to the Executive Tax Director, Tax Operations, and will also support Tax Planning, M&A and Tax Accounting related to transactions affecting the company and its subsidiaries, including regulated utilities, renewable energy projects, and energy infrastructure investments. The role requires deep technical expertise in federal and state income taxation, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex tax matters in a dynamic business environment while driving process improvements, automation, and technology-enabled solutions across the tax function.

Key Responsibilities

· Direct the preparation, review, and filing of federal and state income tax returns and related filings for NextEra Energy and its affiliated entities.

· Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local income tax laws and regulations.

· Ensure tax planning strategies are properly reported in the federal and state income tax returns

· Support tax planning and M&A teams related to transactions

· Provide technical guidance regarding federal and state tax legislation and emerging tax developments.

· Support tax controversy in providing information related to federal and state audits

· Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals responsible for compliance, reporting, and planning activities.

· Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and technology enhancements within the tax function.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


•   Advises and guides the organization on the tax aspects of planning, structuring, and executing transactions of all sizes
•   Analyzes proposed restructuring and acquisition transactions
•   Leads tax aspects of deal and project valuation modeling efforts, financings, and contract structuring
•   Interprets complex statutory and regulatory actions relating to corporate and partnership transactions
•   Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications


•  High School Grad / GED
•  Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
•  Experience:10+ years
•  Supervisor/Management Experience:5+ years

Preferred Qualifications


•  Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
•  Master's - Accounting / Finance
•  LLM - Master of Laws
