Tax Director

Cherry Bekaert is seeking a Part‑Time Tax Director to support our Core Tax practice. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional who wants to remain engaged in meaningful client work while benefiting from a flexible schedule.

As a trusted advisor, you will work closely with middle‑market clients, partnerships, and high‑net‑worth individuals, delivering high‑quality tax compliance and planning services while mentoring team members and contributing to practice growth on a part‑time basis.

As a Tax Director, you will:

• Manage and oversee client tax compliance needs while anticipating tax and business issues and identifying tax planning opportunities

• Lead and review complex individual and partnership tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and quality standards

• Communicate and consult effectively with clients to gather information, explain tax concepts, and resolve issues or concerns

• Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development support to team members, including ongoing performance feedback

• Consult with partnerships and high‑net‑worth individuals on estate, gift, and trust tax planning and compliance needs

• Manage workflows, deadlines, and deliverables within an agreed‑upon part‑time schedule

• Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact clients

• Participate in professional development activities to maintain and enhance technical expertise

What you bring to the role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

• Active CPA license

• 10+ years of experience in business taxation, preferably with a Big 4, large national, or regional accounting firm

• Strong technical background in C and S Corporations, LLCs, and partnerships, with deep experience in pass‑through entity taxation

• Knowledge of accounting, finance, and GAAP, along with federal and state tax regulations

• Proven ability to provide exceptional client service with integrity and professionalism

• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills

• Excellent organizational and project management abilities

• Proficiency with spreadsheet and other standard computer software
