As a Tax Analyst at Clarience Technologies, you will be responsible for supporting the Tax Department and the Business in a wide variety of tax matters, including accounting, compliance, forecasting, indirect taxes, payroll, and planning across U.S. federal, international, state, and local taxes. The applicant must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. This is a new role that will be heavily focused on US state tax matters but will also support federal and international tax matters as needed.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Tax Director with the implementation of Vertex sales and use tax software, including project management, preparing sales tax registrations, and assisting in the collection of reseller certificates
- Investigating and responding to tax notices from governmental agencies for various types of taxes
- Forecasting U.S. Tax liabilities at both federal and state levels
- Preparing tax calculations for quarterly estimated income taxes and assisting with payments
- Supporting tax calculations for compliance and provision workstreams completed by outside vendors
- Utilizing ADP SmartCompliance to manage payroll tax processes efficiently; including acting as a liaison between the company and ADP to address system upgrades, enhancements, or issues
- Conducting tax research to supplement decision-making and acquisition activity
- Supporting audit activity for US and foreign federal, state, and local taxes
- Drafting tax memorandum and other documentation to support the financial statement audit
- Identifying and implementing process enhancements to build-out and improve tax operations
- Creating and maintaining tax policies and procedures
- Teaming with accounting, finance, legal, and HR to drive positive business outcomes

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT(S):
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
- 2+ of tax experience in a multi-national corporation or public accounting
- Knowledge of U.S. federal and state corporate income, sales and use, and payroll tax
- Proficiency in tax research
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license
- Experience with Microsoft Power Query or other technology tools
- Hands-on experience with Vertex and/or ADP SmartCompliance
- Familiarity with ASC 740 and internal controls
