We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced tax professionals with hands-on expertise in tax compliance, tax provision, planning, controversy support, and technical tax analysis.
This role supports an advanced AI initiative focused on translating real-world tax accounting workflows into structured evaluation materials. Selected professionals will develop realistic tax scenarios, review model-generated outputs, assess technical conclusions, and provide detailed written feedback across corporate, individual, partnership, state and local, and international tax matters.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance Scenario Development
- Design realistic scenarios involving Forms 1040, 1120, 1120-S, and 1065
- Develop tasks reflecting return preparation, workpaper review, filing positions, and supporting calculations
- Assess whether tax treatments are technically accurate and appropriately documented
- Identify missing information, calculation errors, and unsupported filing positions
Tax Provision & Technical Analysis
- Create and review scenarios involving ASC 740 tax provision work
- Evaluate current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analyses, and uncertain tax positions
- Assess the application of relevant tax rules to complex transactions and entity structures
- Review technical conclusions for accuracy, consistency, and defensible support
Planning, Notices & Controversy Support
- Develop tasks involving estimated payments, tax planning, and scenario modelling
- Review responses to tax notices, information document requests, and examination queries
- Assess controversy-support materials and proposed responses to taxing authorities
- Evaluate whether recommendations reflect sound professional judgment and practical tax considerations
AI Output Evaluation & Feedback
- Review and compare AI-generated tax analyses, calculations, and written recommendations
- Identify technical errors, unsupported assumptions, and incomplete reasoning
- Determine whether proposed tax positions are accurate and defensible
- Provide clear written feedback explaining strengths, weaknesses, and required corrections
- Collaborate asynchronously with research and quality-review teams
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
- Professional experience in tax accounting, compliance, provision, planning, or controversy
- A clear tax specialisation in corporate, individual, partnership, pass-through, SALT, or international taxation
- Public accounting or in-house tax department experience
- Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns
- Familiarity with ASC 740 and technical tax research
- Strong understanding of tax documentation, filing positions, and professional judgment
- Excellent written communication and close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently within an asynchronous project environment
Educational Background
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, economics, or a related discipline is highly relevant
- CPA or Enrolled Agent credentials are strongly preferred
- Advanced tax training or a master's degree in taxation may strengthen an application
- Equivalent senior-level experience in public accounting or corporate tax may also be considered
Nice to Have
- Experience with corporate, individual, partnership, or pass-through taxation
- Background in state and local tax matters
- Familiarity with international or cross-border tax issues
- Experience preparing or reviewing ASC 740 tax provisions
- Knowledge of estimated payments, tax planning, and cash-tax forecasting
- Experience responding to notices, audits, or information document requests
- Previous involvement in task writing, rubric development, structured evaluation, or AI training-data work
- Experience reviewing tax work prepared by other professionals

Contract Details
