Position Scope
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Tax Accountant is responsible for supporting corporate tax compliance, indirect tax filings, payroll-related tax matters, and cross-border tax coordination. This role works closely with external accountants, auditors, and internal finance leadership to ensure accurate reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with external accountants on corporate income tax filings in Canada and federal and state tax filings in the United States
- Oversee indirect tax compliance, including sales tax, VAT, GST, and related filings across North America and Europe
- Support payroll tax compliance and related statutory filings across relevant jurisdictions
- Liaise with external accountants on payroll tax matters and ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Assist with audits and tax authority reviews and respond to inquiries from CRA, IRS, and other tax authorities
- Prepare and organize supporting documentation for tax filings, audits, and compliance reviews
- Support payroll and employee tax compliance, including withholding tax requirements
- Maintain accurate tax records and supporting documentation
- Support the Director of Finance with transfer pricing matters, permanent establishment exposure, and tax treaty interpretation
Skills & Qualifications
- CPA designation required.
- 3 - 5 years of experience with T2 corporate tax returns and other T slips in Canada
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is an asset
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
