Summary

Balfour Beatty Management, Inc., located in Woodcliff Lake, NJ is seeking an entry level Tax Accountant to support the corporate tax function with a primary focus on income tax compliance and tax provision (ASC 740). This role assists with federal and state income tax filings, annual tax provisions, and tax-related accounting and reporting activities.  The position is well-suited for a recent graduate or early-career professional seeking to build a foundation in corporate taxation with an in-house environment. This is a hybrid position with a weekly work schedule that consists of two days at the office and three days from home.

Primary Responsibilities

Assist with preparation of the federal, state, and local corporate income, partnership and franchise tax returns, including extensions and estimated tax payments. Gather, organize, and prepare supporting documentation and workpapers for tax filings. Support responses to tax notices and information requests from taxing authorities under supervision. Coordinate data requests with internal accounting, finance, and external tax advisors. Assist in preparation of annual income tax provisions under ASC740 including supporting workpapers and analysis for IFRS and U.S. GAAP financial statements. Analysis of deferred tax assets and liabilities including maintaining cumulative deferred tax balances with supporting workpapers. Research and analyze tax laws and prepare final field reports for risk assessment reviews. Management and analysis of all tax accounts.  Requires interaction with internal finance departments. Prepare depreciation expense schedules. Maintain fixed asset system. Investigate and resolve state tax notices. Research state and local tax rules for project bid requests. Participate in process improvements and automation initiatives (including AI) within the tax function.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field. Foundational understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements, or data analysis (through coursework or experience) Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills High attention to detail and ability to work with complex data sets Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, data organization, basic analysis) Ability to learn new systems and technologies quickly Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, reporting-driven environment

Preferred Requirements

Internship or entry-level experience in corporate tax or public accounting Exposure to ASC 740/Income tax accounting Familiarity with tax compliance or provision software (e.g., OneSource, Corptax, CCH Axcess, Alteryx, or similar) Exposure to or interest in AI-enabled tools, automation, or data analytics used in accounting or tax processes Exposure to ERP of financial systems (e.g., JD Edwards, HFM, Sage, Yardi, Timberline or similar) Desire to pursue CPA or other relevant tax/accounting certifications

Pay Rate: $59,800 to $99,736.* *This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
