Summary

The SVP, CFO of the Kansas City Division is responsible for the financial leadership and strategic direction of the division within the larger academic health center. This role involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The SVP will collaborate with leadership to ensure the division's financial health and support its mission of providing high-quality patient care, education, and research.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Leadership:

o Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the division’s goals and objectives.

o Provide leadership and oversight for all financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

Budgeting and Financial Planning:

o Lead the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial sustainability.

o Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget, providing insights and recommendations to division leadership.

Financial Reporting:

o Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to internal stakeholders and external regulatory agencies.

o Prepare and present financial reports to the division's leadership and the broader academic health center.

Compliance and Risk Management:

o Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures.

o Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

o Collaborate with department heads and other key stakeholders to support financial decision-making.

o Serve as a strategic partner to the division’s leadership, providing insights on financial implications of operational decisions.

Team Leadership and Development:

o Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

o Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of finance staff.

Capital Planning and Investment:

o Manage capital budgeting processes and investment strategies to support the division’s growth and operational needs.

o Evaluate and recommend opportunities for financial investment and resource allocation.

Qualifications / Requirements

Education

o Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.

Experience

o Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in healthcare or academic settings.

o Demonstrated experience in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

Skills

o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

o Proven leadership abilities with a track record of managing and developing finance teams.

Knowledge:

o Knowledge of healthcare finance, reimbursement models, and regulatory compliance issues.

o Familiarity with financial management software and tool
