Job Summary
Maintains accounting and financial records. Recommends and develops new and modified procedures and prepares periodic reports for department. Records assets in fixed assets system and general ledger. Reconciles asset general ledger accounts. Prepares and communicates financial reports. Special projects and/or other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate.
Essential Functions
1. Supervises and trains assigned staff, conducts performance appraisals, makes employment and discipline recommendations, and coordinates work assignments.
2. Corrects, reduces, and monitors assets and assets general ledger accounts.
3. Trains team members on resolving payment issues for capital assets, capital project funds, internal service funds, community education, and extended day programs
4. Reviews and analyzes general ledger account reconciliations, provides input ensuring data integrity.
5. Prepare and post journal entries, as well as review and approve staff members’ journal entries to proper accounts.
6. Develops and reviews accounting and standard operating procedures
7. Completes and assists in completion of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience: Five (5) years financial reporting and accounting related supervisory experience (or equivalent. Experience in public school and/or government administration preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of financial reporting accounting practices, principles, and policies
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Government Accounting Principles
- Familiarity with Government Accounting Standards
- Knowledge of capital expenditures utilizing modified and full accrual basis accounting
- Knowledge of asset types, classes and depreciation management techniques
- Knowledge of governmental accounting, public school administration, risk management, and capital assets
- Knowledge of fund and governmental fund reporting presentation using modified and full accrual methods
- Knowledge of balance sheets, statement of revenues, expenditures, changes in fund balances, and cash flow statements
- Strong supervisory management skills
- Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills
- Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to develop subordinates
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, especially with sensitive or confidential personnel or organizational matters
- Ability to plan, organize, and schedule workflow to meet business deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
