ROLE SUMMARY: The Corporate Accountant is a key member of the Stockyards Heritage accounting team, responsible for the full cycle accounting of the Fort Worth Heritage Development (FWHD) corporate entity. This role owns the day-to-day financial operations of FWHD, including all journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities. Beyond core accounting, the Corporate Accountant plays a critical role in corporate-level cash management, intercompany billing, investor-related calculations, and consolidated reporting. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, strong technical accounting skills, and the ability to manage complex recurring processes with accuracy and consistency. The ideal candidate brings experience in multi-entity or real estate accounting environments and thrives in a dynamic, growing organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Execute all monthly close procedures for the FWHD corporate entity, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and supporting schedules.

Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all FWHD checking and savings accounts.

Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring all material items are supported by current, accurate schedules.

Record bi-weekly payroll entries and ensure accurate classification across cost centers and entities.

Accrue monthly tax, D&O insurance, and other recurring liabilities.

Record and track fixed asset additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation and amortization.

Monitor and process recurring monthly obligations, including LEB rent, HR Shared Services, Master License fees, utilities (TXU and City of Fort Worth Water), marketing payables, and health benefit billings.

Track and post delinquency rent activity on a monthly basis.

Ensure all financial data is properly recorded and classified in accordance with GAAP and company policies.

Prepare and process monthly FWHD billbacks and allocations; coordinate and facilitate payment of all billbacks across entities.

Calculate and process the quarterly payroll billback and marketing expense billback.

Perform quarterly calculations for the Asset Management fee, Management fee (Marketing), and Unreturned Capital Balance.

Calculate the monthly Credit Enhancement fee.

Process the annual income tax billback.

Maintain and update the Intercompany Matrix; verify intercompany balances against supporting trial balances and entity-level system reports, and follow up on any out-of-balance items.

Prepare and submit all corporate-level wires and transfers.

Prepare monthly cash analysis and reporting for the corporate entity.

Process payment of all invoices, both property-level and corporate.

Upload and review Positive Pay files.

Prepare the quarterly PDF Financial Reporting Package for the FWHD corporate entity.

Prepare year-end consolidated reporting.

Assist with annual budget preparation and reforecasts for the corporate entity.

Support the annual review process by providing accurate trial balance tie-outs and reconciliation support.

Assist in compiling documentation for audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements.

Support annual compliance follow-up for the Chapter 380 agreement and the Red Steagall Agreement (APHA).

Coordinate ice rink rent and Square Inc. reconciliations on an annual basis.

Process all accounts payable (AP) input for the corporate entity.

Manage new vendor setup, including Vendor Cafe administration.

Review and maintain accurate vendor records.
-
Maintain organized and accurate accounting files and electronic records.
-
Coordinate with other departments to obtain necessary documentation and clarify financial information.
-
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying workflow efficiencies and documentation enhancements.

All other duties as assigned.
ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires working on-site in the office five days a week with occasional travel between the office and portfolio locations as needed.

Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours while working at a desk or computer.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying deadlines.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
2–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated ownership of full cycle accounting responsibilities.

Experience working with general ledger systems and financial reporting processes in a multi-entity environment.

Strong understanding of GAAP, including accrual accounting, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and financial statement preparation.

Experience with billback, allocation, or investor calculation processes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial spreadsheets.

Demonstrated ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple complex assignments independently.

Strong organizational and communication skills and high attention to detail.

Professional judgment and ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience in commercial real estate, property management, or mixed-use development accounting.
-
Familiarity with Yardi or similar property accounting platforms.
-
Experience with consolidation accounting, equity rollforward schedules, or intercompany matrix management.

Prior experience with investor reporting, fee calculations (asset management, credit enhancement, preferred returns), or partnership accounting.

Experience assisting with audits or annual tax preparation.

CPA candidate or actively pursuing professional accounting certification.
